bits + pieces

Wednesday, April 30, 2014

last saturday was a jumbled, glorious mess of goodness. i crawled out of my dreamy bed without the ring of an alarm clock, to find my family gathered in my dad's back yard next door. there is something so very special living next door to family. let me tell ya. so, with bare feet, messy hair and a face half covered with make-up from the night before, i headed over to join everyone. (i know, i know, i should wash my make-up off every night and i'm working on it.)

the weather was down right lovely, so we jumped on the trampoline, sat around chatting our little hearts away, picked up a quick game of back-yard baseball, and like i do-- i followed the little ones around the yard making sure they didn't bump their heads or stub their toes, or anything else that could possibly cause harm to their cute little beings. i'm such a mom. and i will never, ever apologize for it.

after everyone had left, i helped myself to a few cups of coffee my grandma had made earlier in the morning and then just relaxed. soemtimes, it is so nice to just do nothing. i sure soaked it up, at least for a little while.

so what does one do on a beautiful day after they've had their down time and much needed coffee fix?

they go fishing. that's what they do.

we got all of our gear together, beverages packed, warm clothes too-- just in case and we took the jeep-- top down, music up, hair blowing in the wind (not so gracefully, but hey). after hours of sitting with our poles in the water and not catching a darn thing, we finally decided to head home. i can't really complain though, because the view was amazing. i'll take that over a fish any day and twice on sunday.

as all good days do, the night night ended with my brothers and i sitting around the bon fire, chase strumming away on the guitar and me singing along to the sweet melodies. oh, and stuffing our faces with candies, chocolate, and marshmallows. your typical bon fire behavior, of course.

i went to bed that night smelling like firewood and smoke, with a full heart, and a smile spread from cheek to cheek. 'twas good.

hi, hello. welcome.

i'm kd. always, endlessly somewhere between here and there. becoming, becoming, becoming.
