for as long as i can remember, i have made lists whenever i discover something new about myself that i never really noticed before. i scribble it down on any piece of scrap paper i can find. receipts, envelopes, the back of my palm- all marked with little reminders of who i am for times when i get caught up in the tailspin of life and need to be grounded again. there is such certainty when things are printed and made tangible. i hold on to the things that make me who i am and cherish them when i lose sight. i hope you realize that every detail about who we are is exquisite. please find the time to take a moment and appreciate the things that make you you. there is nothing quite as beautiful.
// i rub my hands together whenever i get the slightest bit excited. and spin the rings on my fingers when i become nervous. they are both tell-tale signs to my emotions.
// whenever i hold a baby, i sing lullabies. i rock them back and forth until their eyes get heavy and sleep wraps them up. snuggling with sleeping babies is my favorite.
// i place commas in sentences incorrectly. instead of correct placement, i place them where the thought pauses in my mind. i don't know if i will ever really stop that.
// when i was little my mama gave me the prettiest dream catcher i've ever seen. it protected me when i closed my eyes. to this day i have it hanging above my bed. i have two others hanging in my room.
// i have freckles kissing my right shoulder in the shape of the little dipper. my brother has matching marks.
