so, here's the thing:
i love...love.
which means valentine's day is pretty much the peanut butter to my jelly, the fruit to my loops... the nick to my jess. you get the point. (and yes, that was a new girl reference.) if you haven't watched it yet, do. you'll thank me later. or you'll be too busy watching it to thank me, in which case i completely understand.
anyway, i'm truly a sucker for it all. the pink and red, frilly hearts everywhere. the chocolate...because hey let's face it, tis the season for letting your sweet tooth roam free. and of course there's the cutesy, romantic gestures and sweet cards filled with words from the heart, kinda thing. speaking of which, i may or may not have almost every card i have ever received, stashed away in a box in my old room at my mama's house. okay...so, i definitely do. i'm an emotional hoarder. it's a thing.
this year being as i have no significant other to force feed dove truffles to, i was lucky enough to spend valentine's day with my lovely girl, marina. she's a gem and i kinda, sorta, maybe... adore her to pieces. so there were no complaints coming from my mouth that i had no hunk of my own to spoil, because i did have her. besides, she is pretty much way better than three hunks combined when it comes to the sweetness factor.
we started our date night off at cup of joe, an absolute favorite sit down coffee joint of ours. it just has this overwhelming, relaxed ambiance that makes you feel at home. except of course that if i were at home, i probably wouldn't be wearing lip stick... or pants. but that's neither here nor there. we sat and chatted about nothing and about everything and it was just plain good.
we ended our night with applebees, delicious food, and the happy buzzing of lovers and families chatting among the tables that surrounded us. and i can say without doubt that this was my favorite valentine's day. ever.
