i've gotten really good at this whole thrifting thing. like...really good.
a couple days ago, my grandma and great aunt invited me to go to a garage sale with them. now, to some people that may be a pretty simple gesture, but not to these women. no. these women are thrifting queens. they wear crowns of gold, carrying around hidden secrets of the trade. i was clueless until now.
i have been invited to be a queen and it is glorious.
my great aunt, donna, found a garage sale in the newspaper, cut it out and called us ladies. we met up at her house and all rode together. when we got there, we parked at the end of the drive. donna says the closer you get to the sale the better, but you don't want to park too far in because if someone parks behind you, you'll be blocked in. who thinks of these things? queens. that's who. see what i mean? genius. the garage sale turned out to be an estate sale actually. the smell inside of the house was potent. i had to hold my sleeve up to my face in order to breathe a few times, but it was entirely worth it. as you can see.
i found three pairs of true vintage earrings. each pair for a quarter. yeah, that's right. a quarter. also in my loot was an elegant wicker basket, sterling silver platter engraved with a beautiful floral print, and pressed flowers in a golden frame. needless to say, i am completely and utterly smitten with my finds. ahhh.
donna and my grandmother say there is still so much to learn and believe me, i am more than ready. maybe i should make myself a glittery golden crown to wear every time i go thrifting. too much? yeah... i thought so too. darn.
