on girl's night and growing up

Saturday, February 8, 2014

well, my usual routine consists of a couple of things. there's work, hanging with the grandparents (which usually includes crocheting afghans, making dinner, and watching the news), cleaning, and sleeping. (add a somewhat large amount of netflix time in there between those as well, because let's be honest...i'm a hardcore addict.) it may not seem like a whole lot, but trust me...trying to fit time for much else in between those things isn't so easy...especially when you want to have a nice girl's night out and working around everyone's schedule is less than a simple task.

after months without seeing each other, we finally managed to get a handful of us together for a lovely dinner. unfortunately, a couple ladies couldn't make it out due to family obligations. (which was a bummer, yet completely understandable.)

half way through dinner i had realized...we all grew up. it's amazing how we don't realize the subtle changing of things until suddenly it hits you right between the eyes. i looked around and the fog had been lifted- i could see more clearly and the changes were quite evident. our faces a little older, and us a little wiser. we were no longer just young girls talking about crushes, and classes, what we planned to do after we were done with school, and how our parents didn't understand us. we were women. some of us were parents now, and our conversation circled around new born babies, and marriage, and who was engaged to whom, and who worked and lived where. it is utterly amazing and pretty scary actually. i have dreamed of growing up my whole life and suddenly it's here and now my world is open to so many opportunities and i'm ready to dive in head first. i'm ready for this new journey.

so here's to new beginnings, my loves. here's to growing up.

hi, hello. welcome.

i'm kd. always, endlessly somewhere between here and there. becoming, becoming, becoming.
